As we all know, good attendance is essential for student learning and we want to foster positive attendance patterns at the elementary level.
Western Placer has a district-wide policy regarding the intervals in which families are notified when a student's attendance becomes a concern. A letter was sent home with students in their First Day Packet. In case the letter was overlooked, it can be found below along with a sample form letter for truancy, which is will be sent out after three unexcused absences.
Same as last year, students with Perfect Attendance are recognized at the end of each trimester and at the end of the school year. While a student's attendance record will not be penalized for sudden illness at school, medical/dental appointments, etc., it is still the expectation that appoinments be scheduled after school hours whenever possible as time out of class for even the shortest period can put a child behind and effect academic progress.
